Description
A clipping from the Glendale News-Press of a photo originally taken Saturday, March 1, 1946 and reprinted Friday, August 30, 1968. “More than two decades ago the City of Glendale took formal possession of the Leslie C. Brand Estate, El Miradero, in accordance with the will of the financier, railroad builder and philanthropist. The accompanying photo was taken Saturday, March 1, 1946, and shows the occupants of what was generally known as ‘Brand’s Castle’ bidding farewell to Police Officers Dan Curtle and Joe Metcalf whose beat included El Miradero. Pictured with them are Mrs. Warren Watkins, left, niece of the late Mrs. Brand, and Miss Theresa Dean, sister of Mrs. Brand. Miss Dean holds an armful of pet dog. The big van in background is loaded with personal belongings of the two women. The decorative gateway to the Brand property also forms part of the background”--Text from clipping. Caption title.
