Description
The audience at the Mountain Theater, in a standing ovation at the close of the 54th annual Mountain Play. 1969 marked the fourth time The World We Live In was performed on Mt. Tamalpais. It was the first time this Capek Brothers play was presented as a musical, including electronic sound-effects, under the auspices of director Robin Jackson, from the College of Marin Drama Department. The Mountain Play Association began its annual production in an outdoor amphitheater on top of Mount Tamalpais, Marin County, in 1913. Shows run for several weekends beginning each May. This image is from a collection of scrapbooks, deposited with the California Room in 1975, by Mountain Play Association Director, Marion Hayes Cain.
