Description
Picture of Fruitvale Elementary School, built ca. 1900, 1/2 mile south of the intersection of Bethel and Manning avenues, Selma, Calif. Shows Western Stick architectural style but final disposition of structure unknown. The Fruitvale District was created in 1885, united with the Selma Union High (later, Selma Unified) School District in 1892, and merged with the Walnut District to form the Indianola District in 1950. This district, in turn, became part of the Selma Union High (later, Selma Unified) School District in 1967.
