Description
An unidentified man appears to be reading a document presumably as part of his survey work. One of the main tasks of a surveyor is to measure the surface of the earth. This photo shows a transit attached to a tripod. The transit is used to measure both horizontal and vertical angles. The horse harnessed to the buggy appears to wait patiently. On the far side of the surveyor's horse is a white horse and behind it is a building under construction.
