Description
Color slide showing a teenaged girl holding up a stuffed toy doll of a "Sam the Olympic Eagle" mascot at the Cycling Road Race of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. The Cycling Road Race event took place in Mission Viejo, California. The stuffed doll of the Olympic mascot is a cartoon-like version of an eagle; he wears a red and white striped top hat that has a blue brim with the Olympic rings on it. He also wears a red vest and has a red and white striped bow tie. The girl holding him up is wearing a white visor with the American flag on a stick stuck in it. She is standing in bleachers and is surrounded by other spectators. Above the Sam the Olympic Eagle mascot can be seen solid colored flags on tall flagpoles flying in the breeze. In the background and slightly blurry is the "Mission bell" styled street light that is common in Mission Viejo. At the top of the slide is a label with "84-009, Frame 065" typed on it. At the bottom of the slide is written "camjl 234" in pencil and, in typescript, "27, JUL84H14."
