Looking across the Kaibab bridge to the geological survey water gage.You say this needs life - but I had like in all the other shots of this bridge, moreover, this was taken with the intention of making you look past this bridge to little "hanging on a wire" water gage & so if I had this foreground too important & life, the eyes would not travel past this foreground & into the little "gage" object of importance - and of course there was no physical way to get closet to the 'gage" - Again this proves that unless the critic is with the photographer or is a mental telepathist, is easy to misinterpret the intention of the cameraman
