Description
Simple, one story buildings grouped at left and right, US flag flying above one of them; animal hides dry in center. Set in flat, treeless terrain with hill in distance.
Handwritten title (LL). Signature and date (LL, within image): J.M. Alden, 1855. Signature (LR): J.M. Alden. Handwritten (on verso): Alexander & Banning's/at San Pedro, Cal[iforni]a/Oct[ober] 1855/J.M. Alden, "Ewing". Drawing was probably executed during U.S. Coast Survey by the hydrographic party under the command of Lieutenant Commander James Alden, U.S.N. Assistant.
