Description
Six small drawings apparently features of Chinook and Haida Indian culture. Clockwise from upper left: castanet (fantastic wooden rattle), pipe bowl in slate, cradle (front view), canoe tomb, warrior's tomb (more elaborate buildings), cradle (side view) around a skull facing to left. These tribes apparently lived in Pacific Northwest region (Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alaska). Supplied title. Handwritten (MC): N.W. American Indians/Chenook or Flat Head. Each drawing captioned individually. Handwritten (modern?) on mount: (UL): Brit[ish] Col[umbia]; (UR, on mat): Haida tribe/Queen Charlotte Island. The group of drawings 1963.002:0283 - 1963.002:0301 appear to be related. Some share stylistic, physical, and topical characteristics and may have came from the same source.
