Satirical scene in front of police station showing two policemen grabbing three women (including Chinese) by their hair or coats and dragging them along. Several other scenes take place around, including duel scene, man conversing with semi-nude(?) woman, etc. Various signs on building in background. Printed title (UC): Croquis comiques pour les gents sérieux; (LC): Actualités, San Francisco en 1855. Printed (LL, within image): Charpin. Printed dialog caption (LC) stating that "Actualitiés" form a collection commenting on absurdities commited by legislature or by interpretations of law. Inscriptions in French.
