Description
Battle of the Rio San Gabriel which occurred on January 8, 1847. Artillery and riflemen in center; mounted Californians, Mexicans, and Indians at left and right; dead and wounded in background.
Printed title (LC). Date in pencil (LR): 1851. Printed (LL): Worcester & Co. Scene drawn by John Southwick of the United States Navy (information from text below image). Clipping from: Gleason's Pictorial Drawing Room Companion. Handwritten (on verso): Should be 1847.
