Full titleThe House of John Shire at Sonora- Tuolumne Co. Calif. Aug. 9/28. With his Grand Daughter Miss Dorothy Hoffmann. Shire was the owner of all the Stage line out of Sonora. He was the first stage driver that Chas. Barton alias Black Bart' held up. He had a gold watch given to him by Wells Fargo & Co. for saving Union strong box. The house was built in 1868 by Shire.
