Description
Identification based upon provenance and comparison to portraits of Palmer in the Bancroft Portrait File. Identification of woman as his wife has not been confirmed. Three-quarter length portrait of the couple, standing. C.T.H. Palmer (1827-1897) has a mustache and his hand is in his vest. The woman (Harriet Day Palmer?) is wearing a shawl and jewelry (brooch, chain and bracelet).
