Scrap lumber, strawboard cartons, old roofing, used plywood, etc., are the only building materials available to many people who obtain good shipyard jobs, but cannot rent homes, apartments, or even rooms. They build shacks like this, from lumber shown in the pile. Ground rental runs $10 a month for such homes
