Full titlefirst newspaper published in the mines of Calif. It was started on July 4th 1853, and a single copy sold for 50 cents -- by the year twenty dollars. One Pocket in the Bonanza Mine yielded a ½ million dollars. Nugget holder C-H.-15-P.A. weighed twenty-eight pounds found in 1851. Sonora was made the county seat of Tuolumne in 1852 and extended to the coast range. Here Mark Twain & Bret Harte found the material for many of their stories .
