Description
This 4th revised edition of the San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park's guide book has a greater emphasis on conservation and documents the Wild Animal Park's successes in this area. It documents the natural history of the San Pasqual Valley, located southeast of the city of Escondido and now an agricultural preserve. It also identifies many plants in the area, native fauna and local ecology. The Nairobi Village insert depicts the original motifs, rustic structures, events, areas, and activities, evoking the influence of other Southern California theme parks. A map and images document the Wild Animal Park at this time, including the discontinued practice of elephant rides and shows, signs of a bygone era. The cover features two rhinoceroses, a mother and young.
