The San Diego Zoological Gardens are unique in providing year round outdoor animal exhibits in Balboa Park. The introduction includes the zoo's dedication to children, insight to the Biological Research Insitute and the Zoological Hospital, the unique setting at the zoo, the Zoo school, publication and membership, as well as information on how to give bequests to the zoo. Admission costs 50 cents for adults, but children up to 16 years and all San Diego City and County high school students with a valid I.D. card are admitted free. The guide includes reptiles, mammals, and birds sections. Trained animal acts are presented in the Wegeforth Bowl, named for the Zoo's founder, on the A-Mesa daily. This edition includes a fold-out map attached to the back cover by R.W. Schulteis, as well as the Sketch Map of the San Diego Zoological Garden.
