Description
Retired orchardist Gerdts was a greeter at the Santa Clara County Fair for over 50 years, and he recounts growing up on an orchard in the Evergreen area of San Jose in one of the first pioneer families to settle in Evergreen. The first and second parts are Henry Gerdts only; wife Hazel Gerdts joins him for the remainder and gives her own recollections about when radio, telephone and electricity first came into her life, and what life was like in the Santa Clara Valley in the early 20th century.
