A map of the Rancho Rio de los Americanos, a Mexican land grant. The township and ranges of the land grant are T. 8 N. R. 6 E., T. 8 N. R. 7 E., T. 9 N. R. 6 E., T. 9 N. R. 7 E., and T. 10 N. R. 6 E. Prairie City, an old gold-mining community is located near Alder Creek.
