Description
Detailed fold-out artist-rendered maps of the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park and Downtown San Diego, with a photograph of polar bears on cover. The San Diego Zoo map includes drawings of kangaroos, and sea liions, which are no longer housed at the Zoo, with the majority of enclosures undergoing significant transformation since this publication. This map is significantly different than the 1956/1957~ version, with more realistic, and less cartoonish drawing of the animals. The Balboa Park map depicts artists renderings of the buildings of the park. Plans for 'restoration or replacement of many of these buildings for public use as centers of cultural, social, and recreational activities have been made by the Park and Recreation Department of the City of San Diego.' The Downtown San Diego map includes street car lines which are no longer extant.
