Description
Ryan Aeronautical was one of the most important aeronautical corps in the US from 1927-1980. It built many significant aircrafts, including Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis, and other ground breaking designs. It was a major employer in San Diego. These contracts are for Ryan Aircraft built between 1938 and 1942, and are between Ryan and customers ranging from individuals, airlines and other nations. They provide insight into the economic history of Southern California. Contracts include those with private parties and governments, such as Bolivia, China and the Netherlands. The aircraft are of the Ryan ST Series, most commonly known as the PT-22.
