Description
Daniel Best and his son, Clarence Leo (C. L.) created steam, diesel and gas-powered tractors in San Leandro. In their work, Making Traks authors Ed and Sue Claessen state: Ford is to automobiles what Best is to tractors. In 1925, the Holt Manufacturing Company and C. L. Best Tractor Co. merged to form the Caterpillar Tractor Co.
