Description
A stand of mescal (agave) at the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea just south of the Rosario Plain, near the northern range of this species. The plant most important to the Indians. The heart of the plant, roasted, was a major food, and the fiber of the thick leaves, or pencas, was used for making nets and sandals. This species thrives in the foggy coastal lands.
