Description
Sculpture and Installations Paintings With her project for inSITE94, San Diego artist Jean Lowe created an installation that mirrored much of her previous work as a cunning commentary on an issue relevant to the current times. At the Casa de la Cultura Municipal in Tijuana, Lowe chose to rework the interior of one classroom. Entitled A Lesson in Civics/Una lección de civismo, the classroom was richly outfitted with elements such as school desks, books, educational charts, and posters created by the artist in painted papier-mache that distinctly referenced the topic of civics and how we learn to relate to other species.
