Description
Photographs Performing Arts (including Performance Art) A performance trilogy deconstructing the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus 500 years previous. UC San Diego Library, UC San Diego, La Jolla, CA 92093-0175 (https://library.ucsd.edu/dc/contact) Most of Gómez-Peña’s characters are hybrids, half traditional and half contemporary, half Mexican and half Chicano. During the performance the characters undergo constant transformations seen through overlapping props, costumes and makeup. Each character articulates within himself a series of cultural contradictions which are at the core of the US-Latino experience. Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles, California)
