Description
Loading bags of copra or cacao onto a launch that will take them to the large trade ship anchored further from the beach. The Europeans introduced the need for material goods and forced the Mewun to embrace the Western concepts of cash cropping and wage labor. These concepts became a part of nearly every family's life. Thus, the missionizing process worked in tandem with the economic system that linked Mewun with the world market.
