María Magdalena García Hernández cuenta que su nieta encontró en el Internet que en las bibliotecas de la Universidad de California, San Diego y Columbia tienen archivos que incluyen dibujos que ella hizo durante la Guerra Civil. María Magdalena recuenta que era niña durante la guerra. Recuerda que por la mañana les recogían y llevaban a Francia, y por la noche los regresaban a España. María Magdalena narra que el señor que los cuidaba hacía que los niños y niñas dibujaran cosas sobre la guerra para entretenerles. Relata que hizo un dibujo con casas rotas por los bombardeos y otro de los refugiados pasando la frontera para llegar al túnel y entrar a Francia. María Magdalena indica que ella y su familia se exiliaron en Francia en 1939 y fueron puestos en el campo de Argelès-sur-Mer. Nota que después sacaron a las madres y los niños pequeños y los llevaron a un refugio en Cordes-sur-Ciel, y a los hombres los pusieron en un campo de concentración. María Magdalena recalls being a child during the war. She remembers that in the mornings they were picked up and taken to France, and at night they were returned to Spain. María Magdalena narrates that the man who cared for them would make the children draw things about the war to keep them occupied. She recounts making a drawing of houses damaged by the bombardments and another of the refugees crossing the border to reach the tunnel and enter France. María Magdalena relates that she and her family sought exile in France in 1939 and were placed in the Argelès-sur-Mer concentration camp. She notes that later the mothers and small children were taken to a refuge in Cordes-sur-Ciel, and the men were placed in a concentration camp. María Magdalena explains the importance of her drawings and the reason why she drew damaged houses.
