Josep Bel nació en el pueblo de San Andrés, en las afueras de Barcelona. Josep relata sus experiencias de infancia en una escuela relativamente progresista. Explica que a través de sus maestros/as y compañeros/as fue expuesto a criterios anti-Franquistas y a la política de izquierda. Josep recuenta su interés inicial en la política, el cual fue posteriormente reprimido en una escuela más conservadora. Narra su experiencia llevando a cabo el servicio militar. Josep recuerda que después empezó a trabajar para Telefónica. Cuenta que se involucró con la Confederación Sindical de Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) en Telefónica. Josep detalla su participación en actividades sindicales, tal como elecciones, reuniones, y huelgas contra la compañía. Nota los conflictos internos que le llevaron a separarse de CCOO. Josep describe la formación del Sindicato de Comisiones de Base y habla sobre su papel en el sindicato. Josep Bel was born in the town of San Andrés, outside of Barcelona. Josep relates his childhood experiences in a relatively progressive school. He explains that his teachers and classmates exposed him to anti-Franco sentiment and leftist politics. Josep recounts his initial interest in politics, which was eventually repressed during his studies in a more conservative school. He narrates his experience carrying out military service. Josep recalls that he began working for Telefónica afterward. He tells of becoming involved with the Confederación Sindical de Comisiones Obreras (Trade Union Confederation of Labor Commissions, CCOO) at Telefónica. Josep details his participation in syndicate activities, such as elections, meetings, and strikes against the company. He notes the internal conflicts that led to his break with CCOO.
