Description
This data collection consists of Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) employment records for the base year (1996) and projected year (2006) industry-occupation matrices sorted by industry. The staffing patterns (percent of industry for each occupation that has employment in that industry) for the 1996 and 2006 matrices are included in this file. Also included in each record is the percent of occupation for each industry that has employment in that occupation as well the numeric and percent change for 1996-2006. There are 627 detail and summary occupation codes and 308 detail and summary industry employment codes. Of the 627 occupations, 510 are detail and 117 are summary occupations. However only 509 detail occupations are present. This is because the occupation Farmers, code 710020529, has no wage and salary employment. There are 241 detail and 67 summary industries in these industry-occupation matrices. Each data record consists of: a 1-digit 'data display' code; a 1-digit 'type of occupation' code; a 1-digit 'type of industry' code; a 9-digit occupation code; a 6-digit industry code; employment for 1996; percent of industry employment for each occupation for 1996; percent of occupation employment for each industry for 1996; employment for 2006; percent of industry employment for each occupation for 2006; percent of occupation employment for each industry for 2006; numeric employment change 1996-2006; and per-cent change 1996-2006. Percents are shown with the decimal point included. All employment data are wage and salary employment. Records containing less than 50 workers in 1996 show no employment.
