Ronald S. Burton, a professor of marine biology, and director of the Marine Biological Research Division (MBRD) at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. His research interests include: population genetics of marine organisms, evolutionary biology and molecular ecology, and molecular adaptations to environmental stress. Burton is the recipient of the 2005 Vice Presidential Symposium, American Society of Naturalists, and received the 2008 Mentor Recognition Award
