Description
Humanities and Social Sciences Film, Audio, Video and Digital Art Conclusion of talk from #186 with George, Diane, Ted and Connie. “That’s what this place is all about, but there’s not a city in this country that doesn’t have its problems…we are bending now to almost a lawless situation, the law has become more lawless in our society. We don't’ have any laws anymore and we really want to.” “In the 1800s there was a band called the gypsies and today you’re looking at a band of modern gypsies…the government has tried its system, now let us try ours. Otherwise we’ll be sleeping in the railways, bridges and subdivisions of this country.” “There’s a difference between a hobo and a tramp and a gypsy. A hobo pays his way, a tramp begs. But you don’t see a gypsy begging, we pay our way. I worked 40 years to get here.” Gold man is also on this tape, along with a short sequence with Bill Sable. Between the group of them, a number of interesting comments and quotes can be gleaned from this tape. UC San Diego Library, UC San Diego, La Jolla, CA 92093-0175 (https://library.ucsd.edu/dc/contact)
