Just before midnight, about 450 miles east of Okinawa, on Site 446A of the Deep Sea Drilling Project an 81 foot, wood hull, mast schooner called the VLTAVA 2 made contacted the on radio and talked with Captain Lloyd Dill of the D/V Glomar Challenger (Ship). The VLTARA 2 had six girls and five men on a world cruise with plans to be out about 1 1/2 years and were due in Honolulu around January 23rd, then on to Los Angeles in mid March sailing west to east. The schooner came alongside the D/V Glomar Challenger (Ship) where they were given a gallon of vanilla ice cream, penicillin, beefsteak, and a plastic bag with flour. January 23, 1978
