Description
The dataset describes the amount of total ecosystem carbon in mangroves and the damages from continuing current rates of deforestation for the next 25 years throughout Mexico at a municipio level. The file also includes priority rankings to identify areas that conservation will be efficient and effective in preventing carbon dioxide related damages arising from deforestation. The values can be used to inform management of mangroves and carbon budgets at both country and municipio levels in Mexico. The carbon data was synthesized from peer reviewed publications and analyzed, and original economic calculations were performed by Joy Kumagai between 2017-2019 for her master’s thesis.
