Description
NO campaign: Patricio Bañados says an increase in crime has led to more insecurity in Chile. Testimonies of people attesting to the rise of crime. Carlos Dupre states Chile is unsafe for women and children. There is a rise in crime and vice because of economic instability and a lack of career opportunities. Claudio Arrau speaks about democracy and human rights. Footage of a rally in Antofagasta, Chile where NO leaders spoke about Chile's future. Footage of Chilean masses in support of NO in various cities including: Antofagasta, Panamerican Sur, and Loncoche. Masses in Santiago, Chile formed a human chain for peace. The widow of ex-president Salvador Allende, Hortensia Buchi, returned to Chile after 15 years of exile and was greeted by the masses. Luis Maira A. talks about how politicians used to walk freely without security guards before the Pinochet regime. He believes Pinochet brought fear, distrust, violence, an internal war, and state-led terrorism. Democracy, freedom of speech, and free elections are the way to remove violence and fear from Chile. Voting NO will give Chile the peace it needs. Other countries, Spain and Uruguay, have moved away from dictatorships, communism, and Marxism and have successfully implemented democracies. YES campaign: NO will bring violence, fear, destruction, and communism. Mockery of NO and Patricio Bañados by comparing Bañados to communist leader Volodia Teitelboim. Footage of Mario Palestro on September of 1988 talking about socialism. NO campaign Songs played with scenes of violence and destruction. YES spokesman talks about totalitarianism and the Pro-NO Popular Unity (Unidad Popular/UP) are working together to bring down Chile. Cuba is used as an example of a torn country in which "happiness" has arrived. Patricio Cornejo shows his support for YES. YES spokeswoman lists people around Chile that support YES because they were let down by other political parties. William Thayer Arteaga from the Christian Democratic Party has decided to vote YES for the betterment of Chile. He claims that NO has brought violence into the country and that Pinochet has tried to reverse it. YES spokesman claims that NO is deciding the future of Chilean people without their input or involvement. Voting YES will guarantee a true democracy and a better future. Footage of people showing their support for YES. Promises of job opportunities by voting YES.
