Description
Louise Robi carries a baby in the 'nimbwi', the name for a barkcloth baby sling in pre-colonial times. Today this is simply two yards of store-bought cloth. However, every bridegroom-to-be is expected to give his future mother-in-law two yards of cloth symbolizing the nimbwi in which she carried his bride-to-be when she was an infant.
