Description
Figure 388 from Chapter 15 (Cytoplasmic Inclusions) of 'The Cell, 2nd Ed.' by Don W. Fawcett M.D. Mucus-secreting cell from a crypt of rabbit colonic mucosa after stimulation in vitro with acetycholine. Experimental stimulation of organ cultures in vitro depletes surface mucus from crypt goblet cells, and leads to exocytosis of centrally-located granules. these events are followed by sequential fusion of successive granules toward the cell center.
