- Description
- A small plane instumented with longwave-infrared uncooled (IR) cameras, midwave-infrared (MWIR) cameras, visible (RGB) cameras, point radiometer, and a dual along-track interferometric synthetic aperture radar (ATI-SAR) surved the inner shelf and surfzone along the central CA coast between Oceano Beach in the north to Purisima Point in the south in two separate campaigns (10-18 September and 05-17 October) in 2017. Flight patterns varied to map and quantify phenomena in the innershelf including kilometer-scale water masses, internal wave morphology and motion, and sea surface temperature variability and mixing and surfzone-inner shelf exchnage via rip currents. IR, RGB, radiometer, and ATI-SAR data were mapped and geolocated using a precision onboard inertial navigation system (GPS and inertial motion unit). The data in this archive include gelocated and mosaicked IR imagery (raw, not calibrated, but corected for intra-image variation), mosaicked and mapped RGB imagery, and radiometer data. ATI-SAR data was processed for surface velocity and backscatter-power maps. Field logs, post-flight summaries, and flightline maps are included.
