Description
The poster for My Camera Doesn't Lie, a collection of interviews of 6th Generation Chinese independent film directors, was handed out at the Beijing University reception for the collection's publication. The image on the cover of the book is from Jia Zhangke's film Platform. This collection and the reception were controversial, because most of the films of the 6th Generation during this period had not received government approval and consequently could not be screened in Chinese movie theaters. They were screened unofficially in bars, cafes and occasionally on university campuses, and pirated dvd copies of the films could be purchased from underground dvd distributors.
