Description
Dr. Respess received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Virginia Military Institute, obtained his J.D. from George Washington University, and earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry from MIT. He served as partner of Lyon & Lyon LLP, and Vice President and General Counsel of Hybritech, Inc., Gen-Probe, Inc., and AME, and served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dr. Respess joined Nanogen in May 2004 with more than three decades of biotechnology experience in intellectual property, licensing and general corporate law. He has been a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and a frequent lecturer on intellectual property and licensing law.
