Title
Helen Hill Raitt, who was involved with Scripps Institution of Oceanography since the early 1950's. She is best known for being the first woman to take part in an extended American oceanographic expedition called the Capricorn Expedition (1952-1953) where she kept the log, stood watches, typed reports, took dictation for Roger Revelle, and assisted with oceanographic work. Helen was also an author, and co-wrote the book Scripps Institution of Oceanography; First Fifty Years (W. Ritchie Press, 1967). April 1966
