Description
Local government elections official list of candidates, South West Malekula Ward, village of Wintua. The taro and digging stick is the symbol of the majority political party, Vanuaaku, acknowledging the importance of land and politics. The importance of land to the villagers and the return of lands to the native ni-Vanuatu has found its embodiment in the Vanuaaku Pati explaining, in part, why the party attracts such great numbers from the rural communities.
