Description
After a rank-taking in Malavung, a cooking shed kitchen catches fire. In 1970, there was no water supply on East Aoba except rainfall. This sequence of four photos shows what usually happens when a house or kitchen catches fire. This photo shows what remains of the cooking shed the next morning. Remarkably, part of the roof remains, perhaps because of the efforts of the man who climbed on the roof and used a stick to poke the burning parts to the ground.
