He can be heard occasionally in the interview. Recorded at the University of California, San Diego Digitized from an audio recording of an oral history conducted by Stanley Chodorow, former Dean of Arts and Humanities at UC San Diego. Over the course of two years, Chodorow interviewed founding members of various UC San Diego academic departments, focusing on the principles followed in establishing a given department.
