Description
Humanities and Social Sciences Film, Audio, Video and Digital Art More swap meet coverage—interview with Jeanette Pearson, which began on Reel 181, addresses expenses of people on seller’s row and tie-in between swap meet income and other sources of money. “Why shut it down? I have no idea…too much freedom. I’ve been everywhere and this is the only place like this…maybe go to Yuma, they have a good swap meet there.” Glenda Phelps (transsexual) is now on tape at swap meet. “I’ve been on disability a long time. I raised two kids on $260/month to rent and live like a normal person, making the landlord rich.” “Free America is gone. I felt freer in the ‘50s, when I was young, than I do now” “Been a road warrior, outlaw, ever since I got out of the military after Korea…I’ll be 61 in a couple of weeks, I’m not worried about it.” Glenda is a lively and strong interview, but his appearance on tape makes him stand out in relation to other people, too.
