Description
This set of data has been collected by Centro para la Biodiversidad Marina y la Conservación AC as part of the Gulf of California Marine Program's artisanal fisheries monitoring program. It contains information from the catch logs of the fishing cooperative of San Juaniquito, B.C.S. The research team analyzes data to describe the fishing dynamics of this small fishing community and estimate the economic benefits generated through this activity. San Juaniquito fishers take advantage of 31 fishing resources, however, only 15 of them represent 90% of the catches. This information, together with the social characteristics of the community, will help fishers and government design conservation and management strategies that generate social, economic and environmental benefits. Efforts for this monitoring contribute to the San Basilio Conservation Initiative project.
