Communications among the isolated groups of people have perhaps been the most important single factor in the economic and cultural development. Here Kaindum powers the village radio with flashlight batteries after the original large battery gave out. When the flashlight batteries failed, he would put them onto a galvanized tin roof in the sun for a few hours to gain a few more days of power from them.
