Description
This database is the result of the Point Intercept Transect method, where using transects at 20 and 5 meters in depth with 5 replicates, the type of cover is counted (macroalgae, sessile invertebrates, sand, etc.) every 20 cm for a total of 10 m. The count of each kind of substrate is converted to % of cover by the sum of the total counts of a site depth, and dividing it for the total points (250) and finally multipling the results by 100. The goal of the project is to investigate the structure of benthic macroalgae and invertebrates in the Gulf of California, Thanks to the cover data of macroalge a first baseline available for the rocky reefs is generated for these taxa in the Gulf. Data were collected over three years 2016, 2017 and 2018.
