Portrait of Richard J. Seymour, an oceanographer and head of the Ocean Engineering Research Group at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. Some of his research Interests include the wave climate of the Pacific Coast of the United States, effects of global climate shifts on wave intensity in the Pacific and extreme wave events. In 2000, Seymour was awarded the Moffatt and Nichol Harbor and Coastal Engineering Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers. March 31, 1977
