Tabu lif' (namele taboo leaf) This leaf arrangement announces to all passers-by that they should not set foot beyond the boundary thus marked. This powerful symbol was also displayed to colonial government officials when they came to Mewun in the late 1970's to negotiate a settlement for the plantation demonstration.
