Description
Atmospheric flask O2/N2 and CO2 data sets taken at 12 sampling stations. The stations ALT, BRW, CBA, LJO, MLO, KUM, SAM, CGO, PSA, SPO are active and generate ongoing data sets, which are updated when new data is available. The stations MCQ, and NWR are no longer active, but are included here as legacy station data. The data are provided as replicate averages of flasks collected on a given date ("daily "). The resolution of the replicate averages depends on sampling frequency, which is station dependent, typically between weekly and fortnightly (once every two weeks). These data are subject to revision based on recalibration of standard gases. Active Stations (abbreviation - location, latitude, longitude, elevation, dates of collection) ALT - Alert, NWT, Canada, 82.3°N, 62.3°W, 210m, 1989 - present BRW - Barrow, Alaska, 71.3°N, 156.8°W, 3m, 2010 - present CBA - Cold Bay, Alaska, 55°N 163°W, 42m, 1995 - present LJO - La Jolla Pier, California, 32.9°N, 117.3°W, 10m, 1989 - present MLO - Mauna Loa Observatory, Hawaii, 19.5°N, 155.6°W, 3397m, 1991 - present KUM - Cape Kumukahi, Hawaii, 19.5°N, 154.8°W, 3m, 1993 - present SAM - American Samoa, 14°S 170°W, 42m, 1993 - present CGO - Cape Grim, Australia, 41°S 150°E, 91m, 1991 - present PSA - Palmer Station, Antarctica, 65°S 64°W, 2835m, 1996 - present SPO - South Pole, Antarctica, 90.0°S, 0.0°E, 2810m, 1991 - present Legacy Stations (abbreviation - location, latitude, longitude, elevation, dates of collection) MCQ - Macquarie Island, 54°S 159°E, 94m, 1993 - 1994 NWR - Niwot Ridge, 40°N 105°W, 3749m, 1991 - 1993 See Map of Scripps O2 Program Sampling Stations.

Data Usage: The data and graphics on this website are made freely available, with the understanding that appropriate credit will be given. For applications supporting peer-reviewed scientific publications, coauthorship may sometimes be appropriate. An example would be if an important result or conclusion depends on this product, such as the first account of a previously unreported phenomenon. Ethical usage requires disclosing intentions at early stages of the work in order to avoid duplicating ongoing studies at Scripps. For applications where coauthorship is not needed, which includes all applications outside of the peer-reviewed scientific literature, it is sufficient to acknowledge the Scripps CO2 program as the source. Please direct queries to Ralph Keeling (rkeeling@ucsd.edu).

This item presents data from the current data archive, as well as previous data archives. All archives include time series that extend back to the beginning of each record. Most users will want to use the most recent archive, which contains the latest data version as well as the most up-to-date records. The data in earlier archives may have been superseded in the latest version by updates to instrument calibrations or data filtering. Versions of this data prior to Archive 2020-07-09 were made available at https://doi.org/10.6075/J0GM85NM for Atmospheric Flask O2/N2 Data Sets – Multiple Sampling Stations and https://doi.org/10.6075/J0MC8XBH for Atmospheric Flask CO2 Data Sets – Multiple Sampling Stations.
