Laurence Armi, a professor of oceanography at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and professor of fluid mechanics at UCSD. His research interests include: turbulent flows, stratified flows, ocean circulation and mixing, and estuarine circulation and mixing. Armi is principal investigator and chief scientist for seagoing, laboratory and theoretical studies of turbulent mixing, stratified and rotating flows with particular emphasis on turbulence flows
